About Us
Dear Friends of the St. Habib Girgis Foundation:
There is a rapid growth of new technologies, multimedia, and the availability of information at our fingertips in today's world. This information is not always accurate, can be misleading, and often challenges our Orthodox faith. Accordingly, youth, adults, and parents need to be equipped to respond to such challenges. This is one of the main reasons behind the establishment of St. Habib Girgis Foundation (SHGF), to play a significant role in addressing such issues by preparing Christians, using the same technology, to respond through Orthodox teaching. Some of our early initiatives to address these challenges are, a podcast, “Coffee with Bishop Suriel,” and a symposium celebrating the 70th anniversary of the falling asleep of St. Archdeacon Habib Girgis that addresses the challenges facing the Coptic church in the 21st century concerning Christian teaching. Such symposia can teach us to learn from history in order to avoid falling into the same mistakes again. That is why, as a Coptic community, we need to work together to strengthen Christian teaching—using advanced technology and social media to promote our Orthodox Christian faith, that was delivered once and for all by our Lord Jesus Christ to His Apostles.
The mission of SHGF is to promote and enhance Christian teaching and spread the message of an ancient Christian tradition to every member of God’s family. So, SHGF aims to spread this apostolic teaching through the latest technological advancements available, to reach as many people as possible across the globe. This includes as many channels of social media as achievable. This ministry will take place through various means, including but not limited to podcasts, conferences, publications, public speaking events, and by any other means possible that may develop over time.
Thank you for your support of SHGF and thank you for your kind donations to support this important ministry.
