Authentic Replica of St. Habib Girgis Fountain Pen
St Habib Girgis Foundation is pleased to announce that we were able to replicate the original ivory fountain pen of St Habib Girgis. This has been several years in the making.
First attempt at a replica using wood.
This was no easy feat and took much preparation and thinking of how to achieve and implement such a unique gift that can be a functional pen and one that can be enjoyed by so many around the world. The process took many stages, including professional photography from all angles of the original, produced by Bassem Morgan, a great graphic designer in Melbourne, accurate measurements, finding a nib that reflected the original as close as possible and matching the ivory color of the original. Furthermore, Bassem enhanced the fine Arabic script of St Habib Girgis' name and produced an Adobe Illustrator (AI) file that enhanced the image of the text.
Second attempt at a replica using plastic.
Most importantly was to find a high technology company that could produce a high-resolution 3D image of the pen. After much research, we came across a technology called "TRIOS Ultrafast Optical Sectioning technology." This technology gave a great result, but the digital file still needed more work. We attempted at this stage to search for companies to replicate the pen in several materials, including wood, but the results were not the best outcome we were looking for. This was a tedious process and took much time. However, we continued to keep the dream alive.
However, more work was needed to bring the design of the replica pen as close as possible to the original for it to be an authentic replica. A great craftsman and professional from Sydney, namely James Tawadros, was then able to utilize both the 3D image and the professional photos and the AI file and produce a perfect replica of the pen!

Finally, we needed to find a company that can now take this excellent 3D file and replicates the pen in resin in an ivory color. Again, this was a tedious process that required much patience and time. However, we are glad to announce that we found a great company in the USA that could produce the required result and we are extremely pleased with the outcome.
